Gilliard & Co.

Gilliard & Co., founded by Whitney Gilliard, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting young adults transitioning out of foster care. Located in Savannah, the organization is home to the Independent Living Program (ILP), which provides transitional housing and comprehensive support to individuals aged 18 and older as they navigate the critical phase of gaining independence. The ILP serves as a safe haven for up to 16 young adults, fostering self-improvement and encouraging commitments to employment and education.

At the heart of Gilliard & Co. is Whitney Gilliard, whose personal journey of aging out of foster care at 21 drives her commitment to the cause. Having experienced the challenges firsthand, Whitney has crafted a vision where compassion and support replace the feeling of abandonment that many young adults face. Her experience within the foster care system has given her unique insights, which she uses to guide her leadership and hands-on work as a case manager. Whitney’s collaborative approach values the diverse strengths of her team and board, ensuring a supportive, inclusive environment for both staff and the young adults they serve. Through her leadership, Gilliard & Co. continues to be a beacon of hope and opportunity for young adults in Savannah.
