#1: Fair and Local Author Day – Flannery O’Connor Centennial Celebration

On Sunday, March 23rd, from 12 PM to 4 PM, Savannah is honoring one of its most beloved literary figures, Flannery O’Connor, on what would have been her 100th birthday. This celebration will take place at Lafayette Square and will feature a performance by Moon River Opera, a popup art show by Panhandle Slim, and Flannery-inspired crafts from Live Oak Public Library and Starlandia.

Shop vintage merchandise from Vintage Vortex, enjoy birthday cake, and even compete in a Flannery look-alike contest. A special section of Lafayette Square will host Savannah Local Author Day, where local and regional poets, children’s book authors, and fiction/nonfiction writers will be present to engage with the public.

The festivities will conclude with a promenade around Lafayette Square, so bring handmade signs and get ready to sing along in tribute to Flannery’s legacy. Don’t miss this unique celebration of literature, art, and community spirit!
