Tragedy struck our community on February 18th, 2025, when Benjamin and Renae Deen and her family lost their home to a devastating house fire. An electrical outlet outside their house shorted, causing a fire that resulted in a total loss of their home and everything they had worked so hard for. While we are grateful that no one was home at the time, our hearts break for the loss of their beloved dog and the immense hardship they now face.
Renae and Ben are our neighbors, and their world has been turned upside down. They have young children who are now left without a home, and to make matters even more heartbreaking, their son Brantley is on the transplant list for a new heart this month. In the blink of an eye, they lost not only their home but also all of their belongings, left with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
Many friends, family, and members of the community have already stepped up to provide clothing and essential items to help them through this difficult time. Additionally, efforts have begun to clear the land from the remnants of their home, as they start the long process of rebuilding their lives.
This tragedy serves as a sobering reminder of how crucial it is to ensure the safety of our homes and our loved ones. Electrical work should never be taken lightly—always verify the credentials of those you trust with such critical tasks. Check licensing, request references, and if anything seems questionable, seek a second opinion. Your family’s safety dFive epends on it.
Renae and Ben are not ones to ask for help, but in this moment, they need all the support our community can offer. Every little bit makes a difference, whether it’s a small donation, sharing their story, or providing essentials to help them get back on their feet. Let’s come together to show them that they are not alone and that our community stands with them in this time of need.
If you are able to contribute, a GoFundMe page has been set up to help the Deen family rebuild. Please consider donating or sharing their story to extend our community’s support.
Together, we can help the Deen family rebuild and find hope in the face of such devastating loss.
